Relieving respiratory problems in poultry farming with plants

Reduce reactions to stress, particularly respiratory stress

Respiratory disorders are frequent, the possible infectious agents are numerous, and their consequences are always penalising: delayed growth, deterioration of CI, heterogeneity, or even more. Vaccine prevention strategies can be prescribed according to the agents involved on a case by case basis. In all cases, their prevention requires rigorous hygiene measures, a well applied biosecurity and of course a good control of the environment and ventilation.

Despite this, respiratory disorders can occur and affect chickens, turkeys, ducks and hens…. Depending on their intensity and the context, treatments may be prescribed. In all cases, these birds are subjected to an aggression: coughing, nasal discharge, local irritation, etc. At a variable level, they are thus subjected to stress which penalises them.

Mitigating these reactions to respiratory stress is possible and necessary in order not to derail the growth of the birds. For this purpose, certain plants are particularly interesting to add to the feed or drinking water. However, it is necessary to choose well-documented plants, select them carefully, know their active ingredients and use them safely.
