Stress management in poultry through feeding

Stress-related issues in poultry livestock

Social interactions between birds are normal and necessary for their development. However, in certain situations, their welfare can be compromised and the farmer’s intervention is necessary.

The environment in which the chicken, turkey, duck or hen grows is very important and can be a stress factor. The same is true for the management of the breeding process, which is the breeder’s responsibility.

In case of stress, the animal reacts and its behaviour changes: pecking episodes can appear or a decrease in water or food consumption. These reactions lead to stunted growth, weakened birds and potentially to mortality.

In order to mitigate these stress reactions in poultry farms, CAREPHYT has developed a solution based on natural plant extracts. These provide calming and soothing properties.
